In 1990, Shane was awarded the Trustee Diploma and an Associateship from the Institute of Financial Services in the UK (previously the Chartered Institute of Bankers).

From 1993 Shane has been a Registered Trust and Estate Practitioner with the globally recognised Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners in the UK (STEP).
